The Project EUROPATHS "European Paths towards a culture of lawfulness for young offenders and young persons at risk marginalisation" is financially supported by the Prevention of and Fight Against Crime Programme European Commission - Directorate-General Justice, Freedom And Security. Partners of the Project are the Coordinating institution of the Project, the Cooperative “29 Giugno” (Italy), the Study, Research & International Activities Bureau part of the Italian Juvenile Justice Department (Italian Ministry of Justice), the Guarantor of Prisoners' Rights of the Lazio Region (Italy), the Leuphana University of Lüneburg (Germany), Work-Wise (Netherlands), Copenhagen Prisons (Denmark). The project has relevance at the European level as the composition of the partnership has been structured through the support of the European Prisons Education Association (EPEA).
Objective of the Project Europaths is to investigate at the European level the factors leading youths to criminal behavior. Under the Project, research tools (a desk research, questionnaires to students in schools in high crime rate areas and to young detainees and interviews to social operators and stakeholders involved in juvenile crime prevention policies) become instruments not only for increasing the knowledge on risk and protective factors for juvenile delinquency, but also for promoting a culture of lawfulness and for enhancing the exchange of experiences of public and private organizations interested by the phenomenon.
